Housekeeper / Laundress, Full-time, Atlanta, (Buckhead), GA

New Position. A wonderful couple raising their grandchild is seeking an experienced Housekeeper / Laundress. Their previous Housekeeper retired after 40 years, and they’re hoping to find someone who will be interested in making a long-term commitment and playing an important role in their family.

This position is centered around the general upkeep of the residence, with daily housekeeping and laundry duties. The candidate must have a car and be able to pick up their grandchild from school and occasionally drive to after-school activities. The family is seeking a candidate who can work autonomously without much direction, while at the same time being willing to follow instructions. The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and take pride in maintaining a home to the highest standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

• General housekeeping, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning bathrooms and kitchen areas, and other routine household cleaning
• Keep the home clean, neat, orderly, and well maintained
• Maintain organization throughout the home, including the laundry room, kitchen, pantry, closets, cabinets, and storage areas
• Family laundry to include fine garments, folding, occasional ironing, stain treatment when needed, and caring for linens and towels
• Change bed linens and make beds as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of the gazebo and pool house
• Communicate maintenance concerns or household needs to the family
• Ensure all cleaning tools are working properly, i.e., vacuums, irons, steamers, etc.
• Monitor the need to replenish household cleaning and staple items, i.e., cleaners, trash bags, paper products, soaps, vacuum bags, light bulbs, etc.
• Monitor the need for light bulb replacement and the presence of leaks, running toilets, or other minor household maintenance concerns
• Receive deliveries and bring in mail
• Scan refrigerator and pantry for expired food items and discard anything expired
• Keep refrigerator, pantry, kitchen cabinets, and other frequently used areas clean and orderly
• Assist with receiving packages, putting household items away, and keeping commonly used supplies stocked
• Pick up the family’s grandchild from school and occasionally provide transportation to after-school activities
• Run occasional household errands as requested
• Maintain discretion and respect the family’s privacy at all times
• Assist with additional household duties as needed to help keep the residence running smoothly

To be considered, candidates should have a minimum of four or more years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background working in private homes. Recent and verifiable references must be provided. Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, is also important, along with legal authorization to work in the United States. A reliable vehicle, a clean motor vehicle record, and the ability to pass a background check are required. All references will be verified.
