New Position. An established Buckhead family is seeking an experienced, hands-on professional to help manage and care for their home and all the moving parts in it. They are looking for someone who can wear different hats and is comfortable stepping in wherever needed. The candidate they hire will be hands-on and very involved in the everyday running of the home. The family has a cleaning service once per week for the heavier cleaning, but this candidate will be responsible for keeping the home clean and presentable in between visits. This includes making beds, keeping the kitchen and bathrooms clean, vacuuming and caring for floors, maintaining the primary suite and staying on top of high-traffic areas throughout the home.
Laundry and wardrobe care will be an important part of the position, including washing, ironing, steaming, folding and putting garments away. The candidate should be comfortable using a professional garment press and understand how to properly care for different fabrics and garments. Keeping closets, drawers, cabinets, pantries and storage areas organized will also be part of the day-to-day responsibilities.
The family would love someone who enjoys cooking and can prepare simple meals, primarily dinner. This person will handle grocery shopping, keep the kitchen stocked, organize and clean out the refrigerator, check expiration dates and make sure fresh ingredients and household staples are always on hand. Other responsibilities will include receiving packages and deliveries, handling returns and household errands, ordering items online, assisting with packing and unpacking for travel, helping with seasonal projects and entertaining, and coordinating service vendors and routine household maintenance as needed.
When the family is out of town, this person will be their go-to contact for the residence, emergency alarms, and make sure everything at the residence is taken care of and in order during their absence. Some flexibility to travel with the family would be a plus.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, flexible and easily notices what needs to be done. Most importantly, they are looking for someone who is truly hands-on and does not feel that some household duties are beneath them. Some days may involve coordinating a repair or handling an appointment, while other days may be everyday household chores. They want someone who is comfortable doing it all.
Employers are seeking someone with a professional approach to the position and will only interview candidates with recent experience in a similar capacity working in a private residence. Applicants must have recent and verifiable references, a stable employment history, a clean background check and MVR, legal authorization to work in the United States, fluency in English, and reliable transportation.
