What to Wear to a Job Interview

What to wear to a job interview? You may not give it much thought, but it needs to be a priority. I find very little variation between women and men when it comes to interview attire. A standard interview uniform requires being understated. When putting together an interview uniform keep in mind you want the attention to be focused on you, your skills, abilities and authenticity. This is not the time to express your stylish side. No patterns, neon bright colors, daisy duke shorts, blue jeans, etc. Your best bet is dark slacks, light colored blouse or shirt and a jacket.
Women: A dress is optional but be sure it is something simple. If you wouldn’t wear it to see the Pope, head back to the closet and look again! Otherwise...

Interview with a Clean Car

If you drive, you must arrive to the interview with a clean car. Period. Most all of my clients walk outside with you after the interview to say goodbye. Your automobile is an extension of you. The interior and exterior should be pristine, not just clean. A potential employer sees a dirty car as a reflection of how you maintain your own personal belongings. This gives the impression, and rightfully so, that you would not be very effective when caring for their possessions. Wear Unscented Products to an Interview

Women:  Make sure you only wear unscented products to an interview. Certain fragrances can be very irritating to people. My advice is to skip the Bath & Body Works lotion and spray. I can still smell the scent of half my candidates thirty minutes after they’re gone! I don’t think they realize the strength of their scent. Please. Hear. This. No potential employer you will interview with, or for that matter work with, is going to want to smell pineapple orange body wash. Do yourself a favor and lose the perfume and fruity scents ladies! Men:  Same as the women. Unscented body products only. Leave the Polo, Old Spice aftershave and smelly hair gel at home.  Deloris...
