Housekeeper / Laundress / Family Assistant, Part-time, Cumming, GA (Atlanta)

New Position. A wonderful, retired couple on Lake Lanier is seeking an experienced Housekeeper / Personal Assistant to support them part-time with weekly household chores. Their current employee is retiring after 31 years and they’re hoping to find someone who will make a long-term commitment to them again. This position is centered around the general keeping of the residence with daily housekeeping and laundry duties. Family does employ a cleaning service that does the heavier detailed housekeeping once a month. The family is seeking a candidate who can work autonomously without much direction.

Primary Responsibilities

• General housekeeping
• Keep the home clean, neat, orderly, and well maintained between professional cleanings
• Family laundry to include fine garments, folding, occasionally ironing, stain treatment when needed and caring for linens and towels
• Maintain organized closets, storage areas, pantries, and other household storage spaces
• Household errands including weekly grocery shopping, drop off / pick up dry cleaning, pharmacy runs, returns, post office visits and other household-related tasks
• Receive deliveries, sort packages and bring in mail
• In-store and online ordering or household essentials and staple items
• Keep inventory replenished
• Scan fridge and pantry for expired food items and toss anything expired
• Receive vendors and service providers onto property when needed
• Take family’s older labrador to vet appointments when requested
• Housesit and pet sit when family travels (family travel is infrequent)
• Assist with occasional meal preparation
• Lend a hand wherever needed to be helpful

The family will only consider candidates who have 3 or more years of experience working in a private household. Laundry is important to this role so strong laundry skills are required. Additional requirements: recent and verifiable references, strong and very clear English as they have a difficult time with heavy accents, able to pass a background check, a clean MVR and reliable transportation. The family cherishes their dog, interested candidates must be comfortable working in a home where the dog is free to roam. Important to this role is to live 30 minutes to Lake Lanier / Cumming area.
