Domestic Couple, Full-time, Charleston, SC – Seabrook Island

New Position. A private professional family is seeking an experienced service oriented Domestic Couple to oversee the care and management of their waterfront summer residence in the Charleston area. This is a long term opportunity for a well-rounded couple who work very well together and enjoy maintaining a home to a consistently high standard.

The residence is used seasonally, primarily during the late spring and summer months, when the  principals host family and guests. During this period, the role requires a flexible schedule, including extended hours and weekend coverage, to ensure the home is fully prepared and thoroughly run for both day-to-day living and entertaining. Outside of the primary season, the schedule transitions to a more traditional workweek, with a focus on maintaining the property in turnkey condition year-round. This is a live-out position. Principals would possibly consider off site housing stipend.

The male partner will take the lead on all aspects of property maintenance and exterior care, with a strong emphasis on waterfront upkeep. Responsibilities include overseeing the overall condition and functionality of the home and grounds, coordinating and managing vendors, and handling hands-on maintenance as needed. A solid understanding of residential systems, such as HVAC, security, and Audio/Visual is essential, along with a proactive approach to preventative maintenance. Experience working on waterfront properties is highly valued, including familiarity with dock care and protecting the home from coastal elements. Additional responsibilities include routine inspections, storm preparation and follow-up, vehicle oversight, and maintaining outdoor living areas and equipment. This role will also include support for guest arrivals, bartending, meal service and cleanup with occasional chauffeuring duties.

The female partner will need to have a big picture approach to oversee the full interior care and presentation of the residence, including detailed housekeeping, laundry, and organization. The home should be maintained to a consistently well-kept 5 star set standard, with careful attention to fine finishes, furnishings, and specialty items. Responsibilities include wardrobe care, closet and storage organization, inventory management and purchasing of all entertainment and guest supplies, and ongoing procurement of household supplies. The role also includes casual cooking, particularly during the active season. While formal culinary training is not required, the family would appreciate someone who is a confident, intuitive cook who enjoys preparing fresh, well thought out menus. The role also requires a high level of confidence in supporting table settings, flower arrangements, bar service and serving.

Shared Responsibilities

As a team, the couple will ensure the home is fully prepared ahead of each family and guest arrival and provide hotel service experience and standard throughout the visit. This includes pre arrival provisioning, guest preparedness, and supporting entertaining with unified setup, service, and reset. Additional responsibilities include managing deliveries, maintaining both indoor and outdoor living areas, assisting with seasonal transitions, and supporting the overall flow of the household.
